STEEL PALLETS WITH POLYURETHANE DUNNAGE SYSTEM
Most Automotive Manufacturers now use these style of pallets as a standard packaging system for their “body in white” and finished panel requirements.
(Body in white is a term used for external body panels in their unpainted condition.)
They can be used in a variety of concepts - the Polyurethane offering a versatile and rigid form of protection against damage.
The picture below shows a standard Transport Rack with a PU protection fitted to the retention pockets to prevent paint damage:

The pictures below show a Collapsible Transport Rack with a rotating “finger” dunnage system.

It was designed to collapse to enable a big cost reduction in the return costs of the pallet to the component supplier. The design enables larger body panels to be located in series into the Rack; each finger acts as a “stop” to prevent the component part from clashing with the next.
The Polyurethane Dunnage can be moulded to suit each part using a cast moulding system; each packaging concept can be unique by the design of the dunnage.
